The Frost Is On The Pumpkin...The Dew Is In The Grass
As I'm out of town on business for the next few weeks, I find myself with little to do on a Friday night.

It has been many years (too many to count) since I've found myself in this situation. So, I decided, along with one of my co-workers, to go search out some Friday Night Lights and watch some High School football.

We found a game, just happened to be the home team's homecoming game. We parked ourselves in the home stands and took the game in. I'd almost forgotten how much I love to watch live football. I don't think I've been to a High School game since I took the pads off many years ago.

I was grateful to find out that little has changed - at least on the prep level. The Pep Band still plays the same music, the cheerleaders still do much the same routines, and the game hasn't changed much.

You see, I believe HS football is really what its all about. Its the only chance many of us get to play this game in any organized fashion. It teaches us about winning. It teaches us about losing. Most importantly, it teaches us to pick ourselves up after being leveled and get back to the huddle. Another play is coming, and you'd better be ready for it.

Year in and year out, the game remains the same. I take comfort in that.

And yes, the home team did win their game - or at least they were up by 30 points when the game was called with 9 minutes left in the fourth quarter due to, of all things, lightning.

I'd never seen that happen before. For everything there is a first time.

Here endeth the lesson
The frost is really on the pumpkins.

BUT did you mean, on the pigskin? *chuckle*

That sounds like a worth activity. Especailly if you root for the hometeam!

I love football. I love this time of year.
I love football games too, although I rarely go. I love the smell of the fall air and wearing sweatshirts and the lights. I love the games that are at night. It was a nostalgic moment reading your post. Thank you so much.
You have frost already?? We are still hitting the 80's and my tomatoes are still forming.. Man somedays I just miss the WEst....
Will it be spring, before you post again?

Just doing the rounds, and noticing that you haven't blogged for a bit.

Hope all is well.
