On Ted Rall:
A wise man once said that the first thing to do when you find yourself in a hole with a shovel is to stop digging.
Ted Rall evidently never learned this lesson. He seems to be a student of the Al “Cheap Shot” Franken school of public discourse. Shortly after the idiot grad student from UMass wrote his hit piece on Pat Tillman, Rall proceeded to pen a cartoon lampooning Tillman’s service as an evil act in an evil war started by an evil Commander in Chief. He also scoffs at labeling anyone killed in either Afghanistan or Iraq as a “hero”.
In my humble opinion, Ted Rall can take a flying leap off the highest cliff. His cartoons are a waste of paper, ink, and bandwidth. I don’t care what his credentials are. This one act by far torpedoes any and all personal and professional accomplishments he may have attained to date.
For the record, Ted, Tillman died in Afghanistan as a result of wounds received during a firefight with AQ fighters. Despite your fantasy world view, these are in fact the people who flew three planes into buildings and one into a field in September 2001. As much as I hate to point out the obvious:
They attacked us first!
Now, you may not agree with W and his stance against terrorism. You may wish Algore was in the White House. Fortunately, your wishful thinking is not reality. We live in a world ruled by the aggressive use of overwhelming lethal military force. Good men are called upon to use that force in defense of this nation. Pat Tillman knew that.
Pat Tillman is a hero, despite your vain proclamations to the contrary. He answered his country’s call and stood upon a wall with a rifle – ready, willing, and able to fight his nation’s battles. He gave the last full measure of devotion to his country – something you are unable and unwilling to understand, let alone respect. While you may not hold the same feelings Tillman had, common human decency requires you to respect those who put themselves in harm’s way for the benefit of their nation. But then again, I guess you lack even that decency.
Ted, you have shamed yourself and your profession. Any editor who keeps your foolish cartoons in his/her newspaper is more misguided than you are. In death, Pat Tillman is more than you are or ever will be in life.
Stick that in your cartoon.
Here endeth the lesson.
