Let the whining begin:
Well, well, well. Seems that the French, the Germans, the Canadians, and a whole list of other opponents of Operation Iraqi Freedom are about to get their collective nose whacked out of joint….again.
You see, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz issued a directive yesterday stating that companies from the above listed countries, and I’m sure there are more, are barred from bidding on contracts related to the reconstruction of Iraq. They seem to think there is no consequence for opposing the war, and working to subvert the successful military victory there.
Sorry guys. I’ll let you in on a secret – widely known to everyone except you. Victors set the rules of reconstruction. You, or your government, oppose the action, you get no spoils in the form of high dollar value reconstruction contracts. The US fought the war, the US won the war. That means the US gets to pick and choose who gets a chunk of reconstruction monies.
If you French, Canadian, and German countries have a problem with that, you might want to take it up with your respective governments, or sorry excuses there of.
Here endeth the lesson.
